A Verizon Data Services Inc. team consisting of Tom Hall (TCC Publishing), Lee Karns (Vertical View Software Associates), and Peter Hoyt (Verizon) won the award for Best ToolBook Productivity Tool at TBCON 2005. All are members of the Customer Implementation Support (CIS) team.  This annual ToolBook and VBTrain.Net Conference was held on Colorado Springs, CO August 1-3, 2005.  In addition to this award, the team members presented a combined total of 8 presentations (each given twice) and 2 workshop sessions.

The tool winning this award was titled "The CIS ToolBook Rapid Development Suite."

The Suite of tools consists primarily of four things:

1. A Storyboard Builder (written in ToolBook) for SME’s and Technical Writers
2. A Lesson (Book Builder) Builder System Book for ToolBook Programmers
3. A Comment Collection System for Reviewers
4. A Set of ToolBook Utilities for Reporting and Updating for Programmers and Project Managers
 

With the Storyboard Builder and Lesson Builder, we can write five different types of lessons:

1. Content Only
2. Quiz
3. Simulation Lesson Running in Demonstration Mode Only
4. Simulation Lesson with Practice and Assessment Modes (Show Me or
Demonstration Mode Optional)
5. Simulation Lesson with Demonstration, Practice, and Assessment Modes
